Isotherm maps are a type of isobar map -- maps that use continuous lines to connect areas of equal value. In isotherm maps, a contour line connects locations with the same temperature. These maps are used mainly in meteorology and are commonly on the weather broadcasts. The map above shows isotherms and uses a color scale to assist in differentiating areas of high and low temperatures.
