A windrose diagram is used to display wind speed and wind direction over an extended period of time. Usually, a concentric circle is divided into 16 'slices', each representing a direction (NW, SW, etc.). The length of each 'arm' extending out is proportional to the frequency that that particular windspeed was observed. The different colors represent intervals of wind speed. In this plot, actual windspeed data is compared to computer-generated data.
