Doppler Radar

A Doppler Radar map displays velocity data that is collected through the use of a specialized radar. This radar makes use of the Doppler Effect to capture data on objects even at long distances. These types of maps are used to show areas of current precipitation, its components, and where it's headed next. The example above is a Dopplar Radar image of the U.S. that shows areas of scattered storm activity and precipitation.
